  • Lauren HB Studio was founded by Lauren Herzak-Bauman in 2013. Trained as a sculptor and educator, and inspired by her vision her entrepreneur spirit, Lauren taught herself how to slipcast pottery at her studio in Lakewood, Ohio and unknowingly launched a pottery business. While interest in her unique geometric forms grew, Lauren continued to pursue her sculpture practice, landing her first public commission at The Westin Hotel in downtown Cleveland. Lauren has stayed true to her belief in the vibrancy of art to instill meaning and transform environments.

Lauren is proud to employ a small and lively bunch of beautiful humans that work collaboratively to make pottery and sculpture. Lauren HB Studio pots are sold nationwide. Lauren’s sculptures inhabit both public and private spaces around the country as well. Find more info on our stockists here. See Lauren’s sculptures here. Read Lauren’s resume here. I’m holding a key chain that says “live fully and with joy, the moment is now’. It is handmade and the text is broken onto three rings which spin.

If you had to enter the Olympics what sport would it be?

I’ve watched the Olympics since I was a kid! For summer, it would have to be artistic swimming and for winter, curling. Both look incredibly graceful, impossible and incredibly difficult. I like the idea of demonstrating talent and ease.

    What is your favorite tree?

Weeping Willow. I want to spend all day under its long arms.

Of all the places you’ve traveled to, where would you move?

I would move to Monhegan Island off the coast of Maine and live in a shingled cape cod with a studio barn and sleeping loft. I might also move to Peaceable Kingdom, a now closed toy store in Ann Arbor.

I’m holding a gift from my abuelo (grandfather), he marked a few of the poems we would go over together when I was learning to read.

    What is your secret talent?

Don’t think it’s technically a secret but I am impressively good at sharing reaction gifs in our work group chat. I always find the perfect image to send and I think we can all agree it’s one of my talents.

Where would you go if you could travel to a fictional place?

I can’t really think of a specific place, I guess I keep thinking about a world type that would be interesting to be in. In that way I think traveling to a world where there’s “real” magiv would be it. For example somewhere with fairies, elemental magic and adventures. Hopefully I’d be gifted with a cool power just by going there.

Have you ever had an unexplainable magical experience?

I have a few different events that come to mind but the one I think I should share is when I discovered one of my favorite spots to chill in when I do on my nature walks. I was at one of the metro parks wandering around when I saw a really interesting cluster of mushrooms just off one of the lesser popular paths and couldn’t resist taking some pictures. Of course I ended up finding more and following them to this open space that had a log with a ton of bright mushrooms growing on one of the short sides. I found that this space was very peaceful and calming, far enough from the roads where all I could hear was the sound of woods around me. When I was on my way out I realized I couldn’t find the things that had led me to this space even though I was going the same way. It might sound a little silly but I genuinely feel like something led me to that spot, knowing I needed that sense of peace, and now it’s one of my favorite places to be in especially when I need to disconnect a bit.
